Mastering product management is challenging.
I know because I've been there and done that. I've succeeded. But more than that, I have failed. And it has taken me much longer (almost a decade) to understand how to master product management. Two primary reasons:
I had a lot of questions, ideas, and thoughts while tackling tricky situations. But I had no one to answer my questions and validate my ideas. As a result, the only way I could learn was by doing. And when you learn by doing, you fail more than you succeed.
If I were to do it all over again, I would try to get access to one (or more) person who has done what I'm trying to do. I'd call this person to validate my thoughts and help me navigate every challenging situation.
In other words, I would have loved to have a mentor.
Access to a product management expert would have accelerated my journey at least two-fold.
But that doesn't have to be true for you. I have recently started a Product Management Mentorship program to help product managers who (like my younger self) are trying to accelerate their careers by learning the right things from the right person.
It is a custom-tailored program designed to do three simple things:
More details below.
Before you decide to book a package, I want to share how mentorship has helped me become better and why I very strongly feel mentorship is vital for you to excel as a product manager:
A mentor provides a shortcut to knowledge acquisition. Instead of learning through trial and error, you benefit from their insights, avoiding common pitfalls and accelerating your learning curve.
In the world of product management, challenges are inevitable. A mentor brings real-world experience, helping you tackle complex problems with practical solutions. Without a mentor, it is impossible to translate theoretical knowledge (from books, articles, podcasts) into real-world expertise. And a mentor helps you fill that gap.
Mentorship often opens doors to invaluable connections. Your mentor's network becomes your network, connecting you with industry leaders, potential collaborators, and growth opportunities.
In this program, we will work together to meet two larger goals. First, learn to tricks to master real-world scenariors as a product manager. Second, create a path, that is actionable, to accelerate your career.
To achieve that we will work on the following aspects
1. Goal Setting: We will begin our journey by setting clear career goals. I will help you identify what is required to reach those goals. We will work together to create a roadmap to enable you to achieve those goals.
2. Customized Guidance: Every journey is unique. As a result, I will tailor the program and the advice guidance to your specific needs, addressing your strengths and weaknesses.
3. Regular Feedback: As we progress on this journey, I will provide constructive feedback on your decisions, strategies, and career growth.
4. Continuous Learning: While all of the above is happening, I will also help you identify industry trends, tools, and best practices that will contribute to your success. And guide you to create processes that will help you stay up to date with critical information.
5. Creating a path: Progress doesn't happen in a day, a week, or a month. I will give you the tools to create your path, follow it, and succeed. These tools will not be limited only to the time we work together, but you can use them even after we end our collaboration.
Research shows that people who have mentors tend to get promoted much more frequently than those who don't. In fact, mentors themselves are six times more likely to get promotions, and the people they mentor are five times more likely to get promoted too.
Around 87% of both mentors and mentees feel more confident and empowered at work because of their mentoring relationships.
Additionally, mentoring programs make a big difference for minorities and women, increasing their chances of promotion and staying in their jobs by 15% to 38% compared to those who aren't in such programs.
In addition, this program will help you with the below:
1. Enhanced Decision-making: I will help you identify the skills and tools needed to make the best career and product decisions. We will work together to maximise career growth and the business value you create.
2. Increased Confidence: We will work together to understand the most essential skills to succeed and to help you master them. This will enable you to stand out as the smartest, sharpest, and best PM in the room.
3. Career Advancement: While working together, we will focus on two different aspects. First, understand the best ways to solve real-world product and business problems that you face. Second, the steps and actions you must take to advance your career rapidly. Both aspects will focus on your specific needs. I promise to share practical learnings you can implement in real life immediately.
4. Measurable Results: Mentorship isn't just about guidance; it's about tangible results. You'll see improvements in your product's performance and career in no time.
Mentorship is the only way to access learning that will accelerate your career. Mentorship helps you convert theoretical knowledge into real-world insights and create a real impact on your career.
This mentorship program will benefit you in more ways than you can imagine.
